Julie ‘s background as a photojournalist and University Lecturer (Photojournalism at Monash and Federation University’s) has served her well in terms of developing the transferable skills of efficient communication and logical, solutions-based project management. Her 20s saw Julie travel extensively throughout the world, with her destination preference prioritising in favour of isolated, rarely-visited locations such as Aucayaku in the Peruvian Amazon; Tena in the Forbidden Zone in Himachal Pradesh (Western Himalayas), and attend the Naadam Festival in Mongolia.

A curious mind drew Julie to the University of Sydney where she studied Geoscience and Anthropology, receiving First Class Honours for her Thesis on the impacts of introduced species on the triadic relationship between country and the Jawoyn and Ruk MukMuk Maranungu people (Northern Territory). A pivot in career to Town Planning fuelled further studies including a Masters in Urban Planning and Environment from RMIT (graduating with High Distinction), and Bushfire Assessment from Melbourne University.

Julie is passionate about balancing  the needs of our growing community with the preservation of our unique environments and the mitigation of environmental risks (such as bushfire). Her success as a Statutory planner (Local Government) and in private consultation (Nobelius Land Surveyors) has endowed her with an impressive clientele base and project history. The demand for her industry knowledge has, in part, lead her to the Strategic Flipping partnership as a mechanism to share her insights further afield.
